“We think it’s a radical departure from most small boats. We wanted a small boat with big-boat feeling, like our 38 without all of the extra furniture,” Douglas says (Gerry Douglas, vice president and chief designer at Catalina). “It’s not worth trying to enclose the aft area because that would shorten the salon. This is a ‘drink eight, feed four, sleep two boat,’ with a long cockpit for sleeping outdoors."
