Accommodations

The cockpit on TREASURES has long benches with high seat backs that can comfortably seat six adults with two additional elevated stern rail seats that are the best seats in the house. A varnished teak cockpit table adds a touch of elegance to cocktail parties on the mooring.

Cockpit cushions add to the comfort and turn the benches into extra berths. Access to the water is easy via a walk-through transom that leads down to a integrated swim platform tnat's perfect for swimming or fishing. The Bimini connects to the dodger, and with side curtains in place, the cockpit becomes another semi-enclosed room on the boat.

Moving down below through the wide companionway into the main salon, one is struck right away by just how spacious the interior of this boat is. Throughout the entire interior of this beauty there are marvelous nautical decorations that instantly convey this “feels like home” (See Photos).

There are many opening ports and overhead hatches for light and ventilation (including screens), and headroom is ridiculous, unless you are over 6' 6" tall. A large dining table is to port with seating for six and also converts to a double berth. A settee to starboard includes an integrated forward- facing nav station.

The galley to port is equipped with a double stainless steel sink, three burner stove/oven, microwave, top-loading refrigerator and ample counter and storage room. To starboard is the aft cabin, which has a large double berth and a closet and drawers for storage, as well as opening ports and hatches for light and ventilation.

The day head is located in such a way that it has a private entrance from the aft cabin and also an entrance from the main salon right at the foot of the companionway stairs. It features an electric fresh water toilet, sink, H/C pressurized water, medicine cabinet and additional storage.

Forward is the master cabin, which is not the typical V-berth, but is a pullman berth with a large double berth situated on the port side and closets and drawers on the starboard side. That leaves a clear path to the en suite head up in the bow. This owner's head also has an electric fresh water toilet and features a separate shower compartment, as well as the sink, H/C pressure water, medicine cabinet and storage areas.

Overall, the accommodations and layout on the Catalina 42, and TREASURES in particular, are still the benchmark in cruising sailboats of this size. In other words, for comfortable cruising or living aboard, nobody has figured out how to do it better yet. Built in America, too!.
