This is a 1977 Catalina 27' Sailboat that was donated to the Winnipesaukee Sailing Association, and is available with a mooring at Fay's Boat Yard, at this time. Proceeds from the sale of this vessel benefit the LWSA Sailing Program. This 1977 Catalina 27’ Sailboat was purchased new at Fay’s Boat Yard, and has been here, sailing on fresh water, for all but one year of its life! The Catalina 27 is an American classic. First launched in 1971, more than 6,600 boats were built during a 20-year production run, making it possibly the best-selling 27-footer of all time. Blueberry Pie's prior owners have been knowledgeable sailors and fastidious boat owners. The prior sailors had owned her for 5 years before deciding to donate it. This is a 1977 Catalina 27' Sailboat that is much newer than its age in all respects!
Interior. The Catalina’s exterior brightwork has been replaced or stripped and re-varnished. The interior has been well maintained, and once viewed, you can agree it's very clean. The Catalina 27's popularity comes not only from its excellent sailing qualities, but also it's roominess. This boat is as roomy as most any 27 foot boat you will find, with 6'1" headroom, a spacious main cabin with galley, an enclosed head, and sleeping accommodations for five. This 27' sailboat also has a wider companionway opening than the average boat of this size. Equipment. The 150% genoa and full battened mainsail are nine years old and in good shape. There is also an older asymmetrical spinnaker, but it has seen much less use, so it is still in very good condition. Additionally, the boat comes with a custom winter cover, worth over $2000 new. After a while, with your annual shrink wrap savings, you will recover the cost of the boat!
In the five years the donors owned and cared for this boat they invested in a number of significant improvements, including:
- All new instruments.
- A “Stack Pack” mainsail furling and cover system that takes all the work out of furling and raising the mainsail.
- A new wraparound stainless stern rail, with easy access to the cockpit from the swim ladder.
- A new high tech HDPE rudder.
- Additional equipment available as well.
